Corofin v Newmarket Intermediate Hurling

Corofin Intermediate Hurling Team continued their League Campaign today July 3rd against Newmarket at Pairc Finne in Corofin.

The Corofin squad included Darren Malone in goal, Gearoid Hanrahan, Paul Carkill and Shay Malone in the Back Line.  Damien Ryan Damiel O Loughlin and Eoin Fitzgerald in the Half Back Line, The Centre Field duo included Fionn Clancy and Oisín Madigan. In the Half Forward line were Kevin Heagney with Gearóid Cahill and Gearoid Kelly. Michael Duffy. Michael Kelly and Shane o Brien lined out in the Full Forward Line.

The game was fast paced with flashes of free flowing hurling from both sides. At the water break all was level at 3 points apiece with scores from Gearoid Cahill, Damien Ryan ( free ) and a long range shot from distance from Gearoid Kelly

In the second quarter Corofin edged into the lead scoring 4points  to Newmarkets 3 points( from frees) leaving the half time score at 0.7 to 0. 6.

After the change of ends Newmarket closed the gap with a well executed goal and 2 points from play while Shane O Brien scored a brace of points with Gearoid Kelly and Gearoid Cahill on the score sheet for the home side,

Starting from all square entering the final quarter Newmarket entered a purple patch scoring another goal with 8 points to Corofins 3 points . At the final whistle Newmarket finished on 2 goals and 16 points to Corofins 14 points.
