With nearly a full team of possible starters missing through involvement in county squads and through injury the team that played provided an excellent performance.
The sending off of Damien O Loughlin along with Jack Morrissy of Cooraclare left a lot of space and confusion for our defenders as Sean O Brien was lost soon after through a suspected dislocated shoulder.
After losing two key players in Damien O Loughlin and Sean O Brien, we held a 1-point lead. The water break came at a good time to settle down and set up and we went to score 6 of the next 7 points to lead 12 points to 6. This was brought back to 12 points to 8 after Cooraclare’s final attempts to score.
It was an impressive performance in a difficult away fixture where the lads showed excellent character to grind out a fantastic 4-point win. The younger players in the team played especially well with many not having played at this level previously.
